Freshmen Learning Communities

Transparent Image
Information At Incept, you will have the opportunity to register for a Freshman Learning Community (FLC). FLCs are designed around clusters of freshmen-level courses tailored to a particular topic. If you select an FLC, you will take a group of five core courses related to a common theme during your first semester. You will only have to register for the learning community of your choice to be assigned to all of the classes in the course cluster. The FLC will allow you to get to know many fellow students who share your similar interests, therefore creating a small, friendly community within the larger Georgia State community. Enrollment in a Freshman Learning Community is on a first-come, first-served basis and offered during the Fall semester only.

GSU 1010: New Student Orientation is designed to orient you to college life. Many students find that the course helps them make a successful transition to the university, helps them make better grades in their other courses, and helps them make connections to the Georgia State community. GSU 1010 carries college credit, and its grade will be calculated in your GPA. However, the course is considered an elective and does not count as part of the 120-hour degree requirement. GSU 1010 is offered every semester and required of freshmen students who are unable to attend Incept. For additional information, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Studies at 404-413-2052 or visit success.students.gsu.edu/first-year-programs/freshman-learning-communities/.
